Hi everyone!

As you all have noticed, I have taken a little break from the blogging world. :) So I thought I would try to catch you all up to speed now.

Please make sure my students are practicing their multiplication facts on a nightly basis. Make it fun and play "around the world" at home. Better yet, play "card war" by multiplying the first 2 cards flipped over in a deck! Every little bit will help!

Rounding Numbers

Hey there class! I wanted to show you a helpful worksheet you can use when you're practicing rounding numbers at home. I uploaded the file to the "lost papers" box on the right hand side of the blog. It is under the "math help" folder. Hope this helps you!

Remember our chant: 0-4 you go no more; 5-9 you have to climb!

We're learning together...

I finally learned how to upload videos to my blog. I still haven't mastered how to upload the video to my "math tutorials" tab but hey, this is a learning process. :) Thank you for being patient with me in this new adventure of blogging.

Sell, Sell, Sell!

We started our first fundraiser of the year. Mrs. Fisbeck sure likes to raise money for our school and PTA (the money goes towards field trips, science night and other fun things we do with the students). Orders are due by October 6th!

My Favorite Thing In Math...

Here's a sample of a math journal writing from my classroom. I love hearing about kids favorite part of my math class! Enjoy! :)

Money, Money, Money!

Today we began learning how to count a collection of coins. Mrs. Fisbeck always likes to find interesting ways to teach so I encourage you to ask your child about "Hairy Money".

Homeworkopoly!

So this is how it works...

Mrs. Fisbeck assigns math homework throughout the week. If your child has turned in all assignments on time and has completed all homework by Friday, each kid will get to roll the die and move their marker around the Homeworkopoly board (just like Monopoly).

Here's the prizes for the different board pieces:

Take a Seat on the Bus: sit anywhere in the class for the day

Pass Go: No homework pass good for one item

Brain Binder: The class will get asked "brain binder" questions by Mrs. Fisbeck

Chance/Community Lunchbox: they pull a chance card out of the bag for a chance to win stinky feet, write with ink for the day, teacher helper, lunch with the principal, etc.

So help encourage your child to complete homework on a daily basis and they will get to play this fun game! :)
